Read through the Bible, Day 53

Moses urges the Israelites to remember how God humbled, tested, and provided for them in the wilderness—and to not forget His commands when they enjoy His blessings in the promised land.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Deuteronomy 8–10

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

What are some specific ways you can remind yourself of God’s past faithfulness on a daily basis?

"To forget is not only to invite ingratitude but (as God told the ancient Hebrews in Deuteronomy 8:19) to “perish”—to watch a little of us die every day when we could be experiencing abundant life." —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
