Read through the Bible, Day 48

In today's reading, God calls Israel to carry out His judgment on the Midianites who had led them into sin—a reminder that He takes holiness seriously and will deal with anything that draws His people away from Him.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Numbers 30–32

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

Is there anything in your life that is pulling your heart away from wholehearted devotion to God? What steps do you need to take to deal with it and pursue holiness more seriously?

"We throw off the restrictions, determined to “have it our way.” We’re free to choose our own way, just as Eve was free to eat the forbidden fruit. But there’s one thing we are not free to choose, and that’s the consequences." —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
