Read through the Bible, Day 31

Through the Day of Atonement, God provided an extremely specific way for sinful people to enter His presence and be forgiven—a way that ultimately points to Jesus Christ, our perfect atonement.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Leviticus 14–16

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

How does knowing that the priests could not casually enter God’s presence (Lev. 16:2) deepen your gratitude for the privilege of drawing near through Christ?

"Our atonement has come at great cost. None of our sins has simply been glossed over or ignored. Each of them has been paid for dearly. Each bears the red stain of Christ’s blood." —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
