Read through the Bible, Day 30

After the extensive consecration of the priests, Aaron's sons violated their priestly office and calling, trivializing and ignoring God’s instructions. In a shocking display of God's holiness, they were consumed by the fire and presence of God.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Leviticus 10–13

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

When you think about God's holiness, are you moved to deeper worship and obedience, or are you at risk of becoming complacent?

"Old Testament worshipers were all too familiar with endless ordinances required to deal with their sin and guilt . . . ceremonial washings, killing animals, shedding blood, offering sacrifices. Again and again and again. But these rituals were symbolic, intended to point toward the work of Christ on the cross." —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
