Read through the Bible, Day 281

Good morning. Jesus delivers a powerful series of warnings to the religious leaders, exposing their hypocrisy and highlighting the consequences of pride and rejecting God’s truth. As He points to what lies ahead, He calls us to remain watchful, faithful, and ready—living in hope and obedience as we await His coming.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Matthew 23–24

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

In what ways might you feel morally superior to others, even in subtle ways? How can you surrender that pride to the Lord?

Like the Pharisees, we have an amazing capacity to feel good about ourselves because we don’t commit certain kinds of sins while brushing off as insignificant the interior pollution of our hearts. —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
