Read through the Bible, Day 256

When Israel rebelled against Him, God’s heart was grieved—yet He still longed for their repentance. Even in His judgment, He called them to return and offered mercy to all who humble themselves and seek His ways.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Hosea 5–9

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

How have you experienced God’s mercy even during a time of discipline or correction? What would it look like to humble yourself before Him and seek His ways today?

O Lord, Your ways are right and You are good. Thank You for granting the gift of repentance when I resist You and for healing my wayward heart. Grant me grace to walk in Your ways with a surrendered, trusting heart. And may I not look to others to be my source of life, joy, fullness, and compassion. —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
