Read through the Bible, Day 24

While Moses was on the mountain with God, the Israelites fashioned another god for themselves. Moses interceded on their behalf–-and in the midst of great failure, God showed mercy.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Exodus 32–34

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

What's our attitude toward other believers, especially when they sin? Are you eager for them to receive justice, or do you plead with God to have mercy on them?

"We see in Moses a man who was always yearning for a deeper, more intimate fellowship with God. In one of his most intimate recorded conversations with God. Moses pleaded, “If I have indeed found favor with you, please teach me your ways, and I will know you” (Ex. 33:13). This is the prayer of a man who didn’t just want to know more about God. He wanted to know God." —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
