Read through the Bible, Day 199

In today’s reading, darkness and judgment give way to hope and promise as we catch a glimpse of the Messiah. Isaiah foretells a child who will rule with justice and bring peace—a light shining in a land of deep shadow.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Isaiah 9–12

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

What fears or shadows in your life could be overcome by the light of the promised Messiah, Jesus Christ?

Jesus never experiences not knowing anything that can possibly be known. He needs no one for counsel. He is not only His own perfect counsel, but also our perfect counselor—wiser than all other earthly sources of wisdom put together. —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
