Read through the Bible, Day 162

Today’s reading begins with words Jesus spoke from the cross. Take comfort in the truth that the separation He experienced from the Father that day opened the way for His intimate presence in your life today.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Psalms 22–28

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

Have you heard Psalm 23 so often that its words have become like “white noise”? Take a moment to pray it back to the Good Shepherd, thoughtfully considering the wonder of each of God’s actions described in the psalm.

O Lord, thank You for knowing when I need to be still and when it is time to move into a different place, for nourishing and strengthening me, for restoring me when I am depleted, for leading me in paths of right living, for protecting and comforting me through the dark valleys. I am kept by Your covenant love, now and forever. Amen. —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
