Read through the Bible, Day 158

Today we follow the conclusion of the Lord’s intense questioning of Job. Yet, praise the Lord, when Job finally responds in repentance and brokenness, restoration begins to unfold!

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Job 39–42

Review

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

Having witnessed the Lord’s power and wisdom, Job’s final words are those of repentance. Now that you have seen God’s work in the book of Job, is there any aspect of your view of Him that needs repentance or realignment?

As a result of his encounter with God, Job was not only a good man and a religious man; now he was a broken man. —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1

Respond

Write a short prayer, based on today’s reading. This could include praise, gratitude, personal confession, agreement with the truth, or a request for yourself or someone else.
