Read through the Bible, Day 153

Today’s reading recounts Job’s continued lament over his suffering and the scorn he experiences, even from his friends. Amid his grief, he pleads for vindication and longs for a witness in heaven to hear his case.

Before you begin

Ask the Lord to give you a fresh sense of wonder as you read His Word. Pray for understanding and for an open, humble, obedient heart to receive what He wants to say to you.

Read

Job 17–20

Write a sentence or two about what you've just read. This could be a summary of the passage or an observation or highlight that stood out to you.

Reflect

How does trusting in Christ as your true Advocate and Redeemer give you hope when you are misunderstood or when justice seems delayed?

Even fully surrendered saints sometimes experience sorrow, suffering, and struggles. But in the midst of our earthly journey, the joy Christ offers lifts us beyond our circumstances and provides us with a breathtaking foretaste of heaven’s eternal pleasures. —Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth1
