Seeking Him Podcast

Proud vs. Broken / Relationships

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: Are you a proud person . . .?

Woman 1: “In the 15 years I’ve been on the church decorating committee, I’ve never heard such a dumb idea!”

Nancy: . . . or a broken person?

Woman 2: “I was wrong. Will you forgive me?”

Nancy: Our relationships tell us a lot about whether we’re proud people or broken people. For example, proud people have a critical, fault-finding spirit. But broken people can forgive because they know how much they’ve been forgiven.

Proud people criticize those in positions of authority, but broken people pray for their leaders. Proud people are self-righteous; they think highly of themselves and look down on others.

Woman 1: “That young pastor just doesn’t understand how things work around here.”

Nancy: But broken people think the best of others.

Woman 2: “I think he’s doing a great job.”

Nancy: Romans 12:16 says, “Work happily together. Don’t try to act big. Don’t try to get into the good graces of important people, but enjoy the company of ordinary folks. And don’t think you know it all!” (Living Bible)
