Dr. Juli Slattery: My test now is to talk to you all about two words that may feel very odd put together: sexual discipleship. When you hear those two words, I have found that people usually have one of two responses. Either they’re like, “Eww!” Or they’re like, “Huh?” You know, we are so used to separating God and sex that it almost feels sacreligious to put those two words together. But I want to share with you how I came to use those two words quite regularly.

As I’ve mentioned, over the last decade my work has been leading a ministry where we talk about sexual issues. All day every day, that’s what we do. We sexually disciple. Juli Slattery

Juli Slattery is an author, speaker, clinical psychologist, and the president/co-founder of Authentic Intimacy.

From 2008–2012, Dr. Slattery served at Focus on the Family writing, teaching, and cohosting the Focus on the Family broadcast. In 2012, she started Authentic Intimacy, a ministry devoted to reclaiming God’s design for sexuality. In 2020, Juli launched SexualDiscipleship.com, a platform designed to help Christian leaders navigate sexual issues and questions with gospel-centered truth.

Juli is the host of the weekly podcast Java with Juli, and her books include Rethinking Sexuality; God, Sex, and Your Marriage; and Finding the Hero In Your Husband, Revisited. Juli and her husband, Mike, are the parents of three sons. They live in Akron, Ohio.
