Your Part in the Battle

January 6, 2026 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

“For from the first day that you purposed to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your prayers were heard. I have come because of your prayers.” —Daniel 10:12

There’s something we need to understand about our place in the battles that surround us. We think we’re just praying. Just sitting here with our hands folded. Wondering why we’re not hearing anything from heaven. If maybe we’re not saying it right, or if God is simply too far away to hear us. Wondering why the answers we long for aren’t coming.

Daniel thought he was just praying too. He’d been praying all his life, and for three whole weeks he’d been praying more intensely than ever before. But he was just beginning to comprehend the kind of warfare he was engaging in from his knees. And above it all, unquestionably victorious, was the Most High God.

It’s the lesson of looking up, always watching, always praying (Eph. 6:18). The battle is real, but Heaven rules. And in ways we cannot fathom, our prayers down here, frail and small as we are, have a part to play in His grand plan.
