“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord’ and don’t do the things I say?” —Luke 6:46
Many Christians go through life making decisions while rarely considering, “What does God want me to do? What does the Scripture say about this?” But to call Him “Lord” means choosing His will, His Word, and His ways above ours. We cannot call Him “Lord” and then proceed to run our own lives.
Being surrendered to the will of God won’t look the same for everyone. For some, it may mean being happily married for half a century. For others it may mean remaining faithful in a difficult marriage to an unbeliever. Or never marrying.
It may mean making lots of money and using it for the glory of God. Or having only your essential needs met. Regardless of the details, what matters is saying, “Yes, Lord” and then doing whatever He says to do. Total surrender to Christ as Lord simply means submitting every detail and dimension of your life to His sovereign leading and control. And there’s no safer, more blessed place to be.
