We Can Wait

May 16, 2026 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

Happy is the person who fears the Lord. . . . His heart is assured; he will not fear. In the end he will look in triumph on his foes. —Psalm 112:1, 8

Daniel was told, in reference to the hair- raising prophecies he’d seen, that “from the time the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. Happy is the one who waits for and reaches 1,335 days” (Dan. 12:11–12).

I can’t do the math in my head that fast, but what in the world does this mean?

What it means to me is I can wait. You and I— we can wait. God is working, and so we can wait. God’s timing is perfect, so we can and will wait. In fact, if we will wait on Him—even with all the things around us that we wish would hurry up—He has promised to make us happy and blessed. While we wait.

I can live with that. I can wait, knowing that. Can’t you? For this is life in the long view, as experienced in the short run.

Make it Personal

How can having an eternal perspective help you to wait and trust that God is working in your circumstances today?
