True Multitasking

“The one who remains in me and I in him produces much fruit.” —John 15:5

You may think if you spend concentrated time alone with the Lord each day, you won’t have enough time to meet the needs of your family and others. On a human level, that may make sense. But in God’s economy, spending quality time with Him will increase your capacity to serve others. Those who are frequently and intentionally in His presence are better able to touch others’ lives in meaningful, helpful ways.

When those around you are emotionally or spiritually drained, do they know they can come to you for wise, timely words? That’s exactly what can happen—if you have first been with the Lord. Even Jesus’ effectiveness in ministering to others was born out of times of communion with His Father (Luke 5:16–17).

Do you want to be more effective in fulfilling the many responsibilities of your day, in meeting the needs of those around you? Then structure your day around the priority of meeting alone with the Lord. That “quiet place” will yield increased blessings and capacity beyond what you might expect.
