There’s a Winner

“As I kept watching, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat.” —Daniel 7:9

How long will we have to wait for the events in Daniel 7 to happen? How long before evil is defeated and all creation acknowledges God as the undisputed King of the universe?

Those are fair questions. Is there an answer? Yes, and it’s circled on God’s calendar: “For 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be restored” (8:14).

I’m not sure when that will be. Neither are you. But here’s what we do know: God has this timed down to the hour. And when that moment comes, our enemy will be no longer; he will be “completely destroyed forever” (7:26). Then “the kingdom, dominion, and greatness of the kingdoms under all of heaven will be given to the people, the holy ones of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will serve and obey him” (v. 27).

There’s a clear winner in the ring. All rulers will lay down their arms and bow before the King of heaven. And we get to win with Him.
