There’s a Time

“[The king] will be successful until the time of wrath is completed, because what has been decreed will be accomplished.” —Daniel 11:36

Heaven doesn’t rule only in a general sense. The end of evil’s dominion isn’t something that’s still being hammered out when it comes to the exact timing. No. The end isn’t just near; the end is fixed.

So many of the prophecies in God’s Word seem perplexing and mind-numbing to us. But here’s what’s clear: in God’s mind the program is already determined and carefully timed. Your battle and mine will end. His finger has already pinpointed the precise spot.

Our enemy will be able to notch successes against us for a time, “until the time of wrath is completed” (Dan. 11:36). In other words, you and I and the rest of God’s people will keep facing struggles and opposition as we journey through life, perhaps even up to and including our deaths. But God’s promise is that we will be “refined, purified, and cleansed” through those ordeals, and nothing can keep our deliverance and the demise of every enemy from coming “at the appointed time” (v. 35).
