The Return

September 26, 2025 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

Besides this, since you know the time, it is already the hour for you to wake up from sleep, because now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. —Romans 13:11

Christ may return very soon. Do you long for it? Do you live daily in anticipation of it?

How often we daydream about future events . . . vacations, visits from family and friends, paying off mortgages, relocations, and holidays. Just seeing them on the calendar raises feelings of hope, relief, and joy.

There is no future event that is more certain than the return of Christ. Even though we can’t mark an exact date on the calendar, we know He is coming. The sureness of it can make a remarkable difference in how we live—and what we live for—in the meantime. The first-century believers were sustained through intense threats and persecutions, and generations of Christ followers since then have found courage and comfort in Christ’s promise that “I am coming soon.”

“Our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.” The wait is getting shorter by the hour.
