That God May Be All

September 21, 2026 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

“Truly I tell you, he will get ready, have them recline at the table, then come and serve them.” —Luke 12:37

This verse never fails to move me. Jesus is describing what He will do on that Day He returns for us. The King of the universe, coming to serve us.

And there’s more. In the consummation of the battle of Lucifer against God, we hear “loud voices in heaven, saying, ‘The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever’” (Rev. 11:15). The Son joins His Father to rule forever.

In keeping with the heart of our Servant-King, His last act is one of surrender: “When everything is subject to Christ, then the Son himself will also be subject to one who subjected everything to him, so that God may be all in all” (1 Cor. 15:28).

When all is done, the conquering King will turn over to His Father every kingdom He has overcome. As time gives way to eternity, the Son of God will bow His head in one final, magnificent act of surrender.
