All of them wait for you to give them their food at the right time. —Psalm 104:27
In the first recorded act, God spoke with authority and power, bringing light, life, and order to the emptiness of the universe. All creation lived in wholehearted surrender to His sovereign control.
This surrender didn’t strip creation of dignity or freedom. Surrender was—and is—the source of true freedom and fullness. God ruled over His creation with tender love, inviting His creatures to engage with Him in a divine dance where He led and they followed. In turn, their needs were abundantly met, they fulfilled their created purpose, and they existed in harmony with God and each other.
Psalm 104 describes this original, ideal state. We see a hierarchy where God acts, initiates, directs, sets boundaries, and lovingly rules. In response, His creation looks to Him, waits for Him, bows before Him, and surrenders to His control.
As a result, the earth is “satisfied with good things” (Psalm 104:28). To surrender to the Creator’s control isn’t onerous or burdensome. It’s where stress, struggle, and strain give way to blessing, abundance, and peace.
