Daily Reflections

Seek. Receive. Do. Seek.

August 7, 2025 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

“My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.” —John 4:34

Those who faithfully do the will of the Father are those who faithfully listen to the Father. They seek Him above all else.

Jesus modeled this for us supremely. If we trace His earthly activity, a pattern emerges: Jesus sought the Father’s presence through prayer; He received the understanding and strength needed to do the Father’s will; He did the Father’s will; and He constantly sought the Father’s presence.

Wouldn’t you say that this is the essence of our lives in Christ, that we would do the same as He did . . . seek, receive, do, and seek?

Faithfulness to the end, to the completion of the assignment is a matter of living as Jesus lived. Imagine if His cry from the cross was, “Almost!” Where would that leave us? But no, the cry was, “It is finished!” Though dealing with the encumbrances of humanity, Jesus still completed the will of the Father. He finished it.
