Pray with Your Eyes Open

February 21, 2025 Mary Kassian

“Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.” —Luke 12:2 ESV

Prayer is one of the biggest resources and helps for raising children. Pray for yourself, as a parent, to have wisdom to know how to raise them right—and constantly pray for them.

One of the prayers that I prayed from time to time when I sensed something was amiss in my children’s lives (which continues even now that they’re adults) is, “Lord, please reveal sin.” I prayed for everything hidden to be exposed by the light—and then I kept my eyes and ears open and remained spiritually attentive.

The Lord never failed to answer this prayer. Sometimes it was extremely painful when sin was revealed, but I asked God not to hold back in exposing and dealing with sin.

When you sense something is hidden in your child’s life, pray for light. Pray for the covered to be revealed, the hidden to become known, secrets to be exposed, the private to be made public. Though it might be painful, sin and darkness can’t be dealt with until exposed by the light.

Make it Personal

As you pray for the children in your life, ask God to reveal sin and for them to hunger and thirst after righteousness.
