“I will place the key of the house of David on his shoulder; what he opens, no one can close; what he closes, no one can open.” —Isaiah 22:22
Keys lock and unlock; they grant access and symbolize authority—the right to enter a place that others cannot. What then does it mean for you that Christ is the Key to the kingdom?
If you’ve repented of your sins and believed in Jesus, heaven is yours. You can’t be blocked, canceled, or thrown out. Though undeserved, He who alone is the Key to heaven has thrown its doors open for you.
This access isn’t just for the future. As you journey through life, that Key unlocks every spiritual blessing, wisdom, knowledge, and victory. When you don’t grasp what Scripture means, He’s your Key to understanding. When you don’t know if you can hold on, He gives us mercy and grace “in time of need” (Heb. 4:16).
Even more, Christ holds the “keys of death and Hades” (Rev. 1:18), meaning He’s fully authorized to end Satan’s failed mission of deception and destruction. For you. Forever. And what He shuts, no one can open.
