The one who lives under the protection of the Most High dwells in the shadow of the Almighty. —Psalm 91:1
Fear in relation to protection may cause you to be reluctant to fully trust God: “Will I be safe? Will He take care of those I love?”
Our God describes Himself as a “refuge,” a “fortress,” One who will “deliver” us (Psalm 91:1–3). He doesn’t promise that we will never face danger, but He does promise that those who trust Him will find cover “under his wings” (v. 4).
Those who refuse, however, to entrust their safety to Him will be subject to fearfulness, worry, and mistrust of others. Yet God affirms that not only can He defend us and those we love, He can also keep us free from fear, no matter what comes our way. With trust in His promises, there is nothing we need to dread.
Our strong, loving Protector can defeat every foe. He may keep us from the battle or He may keep us in the battle. But we can be sure that those who entrust themselves to His care will never regret doing so.
