No More Sin

May 8, 2026 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

Seventy weeks are decreed . . . to bring the rebellion to an end, to put a stop to sin, to atone for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness. —Daniel 9:24

Daniel never shied away from an honest appraisal of his own sinfulness and that of his people. He knew all too well what they deserved. But still he pleaded with God to be merciful, to “listen and act” in their behalf, to provide a way out. God did listen. And He promised to act. While Daniel was still praying and pouring out his heart to God, the Lord sent His messenger Gabriel to give Daniel “understanding” (Dan. 9:22) of His unfolding redemptive plan.

As you try to wrap your head around this complex passage, don’t miss the main point of the angel’s message, sent in response to Daniel’s earnest prayer of confession and intercession: God has promised to put a stop to sin and to usher in a new world order where no sin of any sort exists. And He is doing it all through His Son, Jesus. What greater hope could we possibly have?

How does knowing that one day God will put a stop to all sin affect how you live and pray today?
