As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a source of spring water; even the autumn rain will cover it with blessings. —Psalm 84:6
My natural bent is to react to difficult people and circumstances negatively. When asked how I’m doing, the first thing that pops into my head is often a challenge I’m facing. Perhaps the same is true of you.
But what are we telling people by being so quick to verbalize these concerns? How are we reflecting the God to whom we claim to belong?
Thankful people are refreshing, life-giving springs, while unthankful people are life-takers and joy-robbers. There are appropriate times to share our troubles with a caring friend. But ingratitude is toxic. It poisons the atmosphere in our homes and workplaces.
Gratitude can be just as contagious. If you’re tired of living in an atmosphere where all the joy and beauty have been sucked out through negative, unappreciative words and attitudes, you can make a change. You can become the type of person you’ve always wanted to be around—one who makes Jesus and His gospel winsome to all who come within reach.

Make it Personal
Ask God to make you a more grateful person and that your attitude of gratitude would reflect Jesus to the people around you.
