Daily Reflections

In Their Footsteps

Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for his mercies never end. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness! —Lamentations 3:22–23

As I observe godly older women in my church, I see them living out the words of the hymn “’Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus.” And I also see how this song’s simple refrains echo profound guidance for younger women hoping to follow in their footsteps.

We learn to trust Him daily—acknowledging Jesus as completely trustworthy, surrendering our plans, desires, and worries to Him, and following His lead. We see how He has proven His faithfulness through the seasons as we look back on what He’s said and done.

We’re taught to cherish Him above all else, recognizing that He is worthy of our devotion, deepest affection, worship, gratitude, time, and attention. And we see the importance of admitting our weakness, humbly accepting that we need to depend on Him each day.

Lord willing, you will have many more days until you see our Savior face-to-face. Listen to this song and reflect on the reasons it is precious to turn to Him.
