Hounding Your Foxes

September 12, 2026 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

Catch the foxes for us—the little foxes that ruin the vineyards—for our vineyards are in bloom. —Song of Songs 2:15

Like me, you probably have spaces in your house where things tend to collect and pile up. “Junk drawers,” we call them, or even “junk rooms.”

If we’re not careful, however, our whole lives can become inundated with unnecessary stuff and time stealers. Some of these things may have been useful once, but now they just take up room. Like the “little foxes” in Scripture, they can steal us blind until we get serious about dealing with them.

The “foxes” that steal precious time from your life may be the obvious ones—TV, movies, social media. But some may be more subtle, like relationships that consume lots of time and focus but are unfruitful or worse. Other “foxes” are the toxic attitudes we allow in our hearts— moodiness, complaining, and ingratitude. Look around. You’ll spot even more.

If you purpose to eliminate what’s unnecessarily “cluttering” your life, you won’t have to climb over so much junk to stay flexible to God’s agenda. When He calls, you’ll be ready.

Make it Personal

Name some of those foxes in your life. How might you be more fruitful if they were eliminated?
