He’s Our Anchor

July 11, 2025 Yamell Jaramillo

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. —Hebrews 6:19

One of the themes throughout the Bible that fascinates me the most is the attributes of God. And when I see examples of these characteristics described in poetic language, I’m reminded that God is our refuge; He is our firm anchor.

Life can be tumultuous, full of ups and downs. In those moments, it’s easy to feel adrift, like a ship without an anchor. But when we decide to be women of the Word, we learn to trust that God is our unshakable anchor.

Trusting God means believing that even in the fiercest storms of life, He will keep us strong. This trust is built through a deep, intimate relationship with Him that’s nourished by immersing ourselves in His Word. When we get to know His character more and more, we can better face the difficult times when the waves are overwhelming us and when our boat seems to be drifting away. It’s in those moments that we can remember these truths and know He will bring us to a safe harbor.

How has God been your anchor during difficult times? How can you remind yourself of this truth when you encounter future storms?
