Heart Indicator

November 15, 2025 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

Surely the righteous will praise your name; the upright will live in your presence. —Psalm 140:13

When you ask friends over for dinner, it’s a sign you enjoy their company. When you choose church rather than sleeping in on Sundays, it suggests you value worship and Christian fellowship more than political roundtables or leisurely brunches.

And when you catch yourself being grateful to God for His obvious and even His more subtle (or hard to understand) forms of blessing, it’s an indication that your heart is being drawn to His and that you believe He is good, faithful, and can be trusted.

If you start sensing godly gratitude welling up throughout the course of the day, it won’t be because you’re working hard to keep a resolution. Not for long. The only people who can sustain a consistent flow of thanksgiving between them and God are those who know who, what, and where they’d be if He hadn’t intervened and saved them from themselves.

Giving of thanks is an indicator of our true heart condition. Those who have been made righteous by the grace of God will be thankful people.

Make it Personal

Reflect today on who, what, and where you’d be without Christ. Then take time to thank Him for who He is and what He’s done!
