He Put You There

July 27, 2026 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

“Above all, fear the LORD and worship him faithfully with all your heart.” —1 Samuel 12:24

In Daniel 8 we read about an intense vision that left Daniel “overcome and . . . sick for days” (v. 27). Afterward, he “got up and went about the king’s business.”

Did you catch that? Daniel went back to work—in Babylon, serving a pagan king. None of those he worked under shared his belief system. People around him overtly sought to undermine his influence. And yet he added value to every environment where he served. He showed respect to those in leadership. God had put him there in Babylon, and that’s where he represented God’s kingdom.

There are deeply disturbing things going on around us, and we may sometimes feel overwhelmed and sick about it. Yet we’ve been placed in our current situation by God, and we’re to serve wherever He has put us while keeping our hearts firmly planted in heaven and holding fast to the hope that His purposes and promises will be fulfilled.

Rather than decry our situation, let’s just see what faithfulness and integrity look like inside it.
