Fruitful

March 10, 2026 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him, saying, “I am God Almighty. Live in my presence and be blameless.” —Genesis 17:1

When God gave Abraham and Sarah a baby in their old age, He revealed a new name for Himself: El Shaddai—the All-Sufficient One. He promised to make Abraham “extremely fruitful” (Gen. 17:6). Throughout Scripture, the name El Shaddai is linked with fruitfulness. Out of His sufficiency, God multiplies what we can do.

As our nourisher, strength-giver, and satisfier, God pours out blessings into the lives of His children. He is the all-bountiful one—the God who richly provides everything we need.

When Isaac blessed his son, he said, “El Shaddai bless you and make you fruitful” (Gen. 28:3). Later, God said to Jacob, “I am El Shaddai. Be fruitful and multiply” (35:11). He alone is the One who makes us fruitful.

God wants to produce spiritual fruit in us—the fruit of His Spirit that includes love, joy, peace, and more (Gal. 5:22). Are those qualities growing in you? Ask El Shaddai, the All-Sufficient One, to cultivate the fruit of His Spirit in your life.

In what area of life do you need to trust God to make you fruitful rather than trying to produce results on your own?
