One of my greatest heartaches has been watching young adults who grew up in Christian homes and churches show so little interest in spiritual matters—or worse, profess Christ while living contrary to His Word.
Yes, everyone is responsible for their own choices. But I think we in their parents’ generation must ask if we bear any responsibility. Every generation of believers is charged with passing on a godly heritage. We’re responsible for the seeds we sow, and we must live with the harvest.
Our enemy is determined to claim the children of God’s people for his purposes. His agenda is furthered when we fail to be intentional about pursuing Christ ourselves or about urging our children to do the same.
Oh, for a generation of parents who live out the truth before their children and train and nurture their children in God’s ways, trusting Him to capture their hearts by His grace that they might not drop the baton of faith but pass it on intact.
