In applying redemptive wisdom to life’s tricky concerns, we cannot fear sharing our own stories with the people we disciple and interact with and tell them about God redeeming our own foolish and destructive life choices. . . . Waiting prayerfully for loved ones to turn from foolishness preserves both our love and our hope.
It seems prudent to bear in mind that many Christians are attempting the decades-long road of discipleship in a microwave-oven world. How much pressure does our own impatience exert when we demand that a new convert show an instant and seemingly perfect desire for a sacrificial life that honors God above all? Yet as we walk alongside with prayer and long-suffering and do not give up, we display our own belief in Wisdom’s promise that He who has begun a good work in each of us will faithfully complete that work until the day we are all perfected in His presence.
