For if we have been united with him in the likeness of his death, we will certainly also be in the likeness of his resurrection. —Romans 6:5
What is true of Christ is true of all who are in Christ. We were dead. We were buried. We have been raised to life. We are seated with Him in the heavens and destined to rule. In each progression of the gospel, each point of Christ’s redemptive work. We not only benefited from it, but we joined Him in it.
Romans 6 expounds the connection we had with Christ as He moved from cross to grave to life to glory. The body of our sin was killed along with the body of His flesh. We were raised to new life when He vacated the tomb. We are seated with Him where He now rules, at the Father’s right hand.
Positionally, you and I are seated there with Jesus right now. Whatever temptations and challenges may rise to greet us, we don’t fight from a point of defeat and deficiency.
