“In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?” —John 14:2
Although the Lord is with us now and has adopted us now, in one sense he is somewhat still removed. I do not mean that he is not with us—he is revealed in Immanuel. . . . What I do mean is that right now, we can only see him dimly. . . .
When we are with him, we shall know him comprehensively. We will be able to behold him, face to face. He will remove the hindrance of our sin, and we will have . . . nothing between us and him in the hew heavens and new earth. He will be a fully present parent, and we will be able to grasp it. . . . Can you imagine? God will honor his promise to us. Our elder Brother, Jesus, will usher us into the presence of our Father, and there will be no more hindrances keeping us from our true home—the place we really belong.1
