Care

June 22, 2025 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord cares for me. —Psalm 27:10

Everything about this verse is extreme. Example one: “father and mother” are those we would expect to care for us even if the whole world turned away. Example two: to be “abandoned” is to be left behind with no intention of ever being in our life again. The situation pictured in this verse is that of love rotting into apathy. Extreme.

Yet even then—even if we were no longer a thought or concern to the people who brought us into existence—even then there is One who cares for us. And who always will. One with whom there is not even the remotest possibility of abandonment.

How does the wonderful Father care for us? By feeling for us and tending to us. His heart is for us; He is faithfully, affectionately aware of us. And He lovingly attends to the largest and smallest of our wants, needs, and concerns. He is attentive, concerned, and timely. And He always will be.
