Called Out, Set Apart, Safe

March 23, 2026 Karen Ellis

“My kingdom is not of this world,” said Jesus. —John 18:36

With the rise of resentment against the God of the Bible and His teachings and mission, all modern global cultures are forcing us to define exactly who we are, in whose house we dwell—Folly’s house with them, or Wisdom’s house against them.

There is no salvation in politics or culture. Will we teach our children to see themselves as perpetual victims, be it victims of persecution or victims of oppression? Are we training them to grasp for political and cultural power to accomplish the work of the kingdom that the church alone can do? Or are we teaching our children to see themselves as a called-out, set-apart people, on task and moving with purpose through their Father’s world?

The margin is our true heritage, and because God lives with His people on the margins, His power lives there too. As we find ourselves more and more on the margins, He will breathe new life into us. Our dignity, identity, and significance are restored and fulfilled only in Christ.
