An Offering of Worship

The instruction of the LORD is perfect, renewing one’s life; the testimony of the Lord is trustworthy, making the inexperienced wise. —Psalm 19:7

The more I sit with Psalm 19, the more I see that it pertains to every moment of life. I’m challenged to pray that “the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable” (v. 14) to God before I even get out of bed.

Before I open my laptop. Before I answer a text or speak a word to my family. Before I cook dinner or play with my daughter. Because my words, whether spoken or whispered, reveal the posture of my heart. And my heart is always on display before the Lord.

Maybe, like me, you need this simple prayer to be more than a familiar recitation. You need it to shape your whole life. Here’s a simple place to start: recite Psalm 19:14 each morning. Ask God to use your words to reflect a heart surrendered to Him. May every conversation, every thought, and every word that passes your lips be an offering of worship that is acceptable in His sight.
