A Story to Share

“I am now going the way of the whole earth, and you know . . . that none of the good promises the LORD your God made to you has failed.” —Joshua 23:14

When I think of Joshua, standing before the people of Israel near the end of his life, I also think of Titus 2:2: “Older men are to be . . . sound in faith.” “Sound in faith” means to be sound in the faith—grounded in the truth of God’s Word. And able to affirm from experience the trustworthiness of God’s promises.

Joshua’s words reveal an unshakable confidence in God and His Word. He wasn’t merely speaking of something he’d heard but testifying to something he knew firsthand.

What you’ve gleaned of God’s nature and ways throughout the course of your life, however inadequate you may feel, is worth passing on to others. Wherever you’ve seen God prove Himself faithful, wherever His Word has sustained you in weakness and provided needed direction, and yes, even wherever you have experienced the consequences of failing to walk according to His Word—there’s your story to share.
