A Spiritual Checkup

December 26, 2025 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith. Examine yourselves. —2 Corinthians 13:5

Each year, I try to schedule a routine physical to evaluate my health. We know how important those checkups are for our bodies, but have you ever considered the need for a spiritual checkup?

I often find it helpful to take stock of my spiritual life, to ask myself, Where am I in my walk with the Lord? At times, I’ve even asked trusted friends, “Do you see any blind spots? Where do I need to grow?”

Most importantly, I ask the Lord to search my heart. I open His Word and invite His Spirit to examine me, reorder my priorities, and align my desires with His. I want His light to shine into every corner of my life and reveal what is pleasing to Him—and what is not.

When was your last spiritual checkup? Don’t wait for a crisis to examine your heart. Make it a regular habit. Come before the Lord with humility and pray with the psalmist, “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns” (Psalm 139:23).
