A Heaven’s Rule Perspective

September 16, 2025 Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth

“My God sent his angel and shut the lions’ mouths; and they haven’t harmed me.” —Daniel 6:22

As we know, not every faithful walk in times of crisis results in the shutting of lions’ mouths. For reasons known only to Him, God sometimes allows the lions to prevail. Yet either way, God advances His eternal kingdom through our earthly lives as we put our trust in Him and not in what we can see and hear around us.

In Daniel’s case, heaven’s intervention was dramatic and visible to all. Not only did God cause Daniel to make it through the night unharmed, the ones who’d cooked up this conspiracy were thrown into the lions’ den themselves, receiving a far less accommodating treatment (Dan. 6:24).

King Darius then issued a new decree, commanding that all his people “tremble in fear before the God of Daniel,”

“For he is the living God, and he endures forever.” (v. 26)

That’s not what the earth expected, but earth doesn’t rule. Heaven rules. That’s the perspective from which we live, work, react, and pray.
