“You have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember then how far you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first.” —Revelation 2:4–5
Seeking the Lord and walking closely with Him brings countless joys and rewards. One of the specific benefits of personal revival is that it restores our first love, rekindling the love we once had for God.
Revival rebuilds a desire for God’s Word, prayer, praise, and obedience. As our intimacy with God deepens, those spiritual disciplines and activities that once felt burdensome become a delight. It resolves conflicts and repairs broken relationships, including marriages.
It removes bitterness, fear, and worry. God’s grace enables us to humble ourselves, admit our sinful attitudes, forgive those who have hurt us, and seek the forgiveness of those we have offended. Reconciliation—with God and others—is a mark of true revival.
As I heard one newly revived believer say, “Revival is not just an emotional touch; it is a complete takeover!”
