In These Days of Desperation: A Call to Prayer

Death has come up into our windows . . . cutting off the children from the streets and the young men from the squares (Jer. 9:21).

Our hearts are groaning today in the wake of a week of violence, death, and destruction. Such a sense of grief, anger, and frustration. And helplessness. What can be done? What can we do? How can this hateful, senseless madness be stopped? Will it never end?

I don't know the answers to all those questions. One thing is for sure, these troubles cannot be solved by any human means. No new laws, no new President, no new anything is sufficient to put an end to the endless evil spewing from evil hearts.

But I do know one thing you and I can do . . . one thing we must do.

Thus says the LORD of hosts:
"Consider, and call for the mourning women to come" (Jer 9:17).

More than a year ago, the Lord put it on my heart to call for 100,000 women to come together in a nationwide prayer gathering. I could not have imagined then how timely and desperately needed such a gathering would be.

Nothing short of divine intervention will do. I am pleading with you to join me on Friday night, September 23, for this live, simulcast prayer gathering.

We are praying for thousands of groups of women to come together that evening to pray—in homes, churches, convention centers, and other venues in cities and towns across the country. Because "when the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears" (Ps. 34:17).

Join me as we Cry Out!
