The Friday Five - 10/18/19

  1. Here’s a little behind-the-scenes information about the The Friday Five preparation process: sometimes I read one post that is so powerful, I start sending out quotes to everyone I know and almost forget we need four more links! That happened this week when I heard Dawn Wilson’s story. If you missed her interview on the radio program, listen to it as soon as possible, and then praise God for how He is helping Dawn face the fear of cancer, pray for her healing and her hope, and then send her story to a friend who has been needing to hear how faithfully God provides.
  1. “Stretch marks, loose skin, and under-eye circles—oh my! Many moms stand a little awkwardly before the mirror, examining their postpartum bodies. We may know the world’s standard isn’t a true one, but how do we find peace with our new bodies?” In this episode of the Risen Motherhood podcast, Emily Jensen and Laura Wifler invite five women (including Revive Our Hearts’ own Betsy Gómez!) to share how the gospel changes their outlook on their postpartum bodies.
  1. If you’ve been walking through a season of suffering, there’s a resource you need to check out! Our friends at Well-Watered Women released a journal this week called Unshaken that is meant to help you write about your thoughts, anxieties, and fears and pray Scripture over them. I love it, and I love that one purpose of this journal is to help us have a tangible testament to God’s faithfulness in every season!
  1. The Stories of Sacred Endurance podcast by Trillia Newbell is coming soon! This new podcast will focus on the biblical call to run the race with endurance and bring it to life with stories of modern-day Christians. Doesn’t that sound great? In the episodes, we’ll hear about “a woman whose life was forever changed after diving into shallow water, the story of a man who escaped from the prosperity gospel, and much more.” Subscribe to the feed today so you’ll be able to listen as soon as episodes are released!
  1. Ready for some good news to carry with you this weekend? Here it is: ”Every fear and worry we will face today, every insult and besetting sin—everything is fleeting. The things of this world are already circling the drain. Our lives are just a blip on the timeline of eternity, yet each of us matters to Him, our Creator. God, in contrast, is the end-all-be-all, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. Today we can rest in His goodness and constancy. We can rest in His power and His ‘bigness,’ and that is no small thing.” Amen!
