A Sneak Peek at The War Room

I love a good movie—that feeling of being immersed in a story, becoming friends with the characters, and even the tinge of sadness when the credits roll. But as much as I like movies, I don't go to the theater all that often. First, have you seen how much a ticket goes for these days? If I'm going to pay that price, then the movie better be good. And that's the other problem—most movies these days don't look good. At all. Even for a dollar rental fee, I think I'm going to pass.

Prayer is a weapon we need to utilize in our own families and for our churches, our communities, our country.

But there's a new movie coming out tomorrow that's got me interested. One that not only tells a good story but has a powerful message behind it. The Kendrick brothers, who brought us Facing the Giants, Fireproof, and Courageous, are now talking about the power of prayer in the movie War Room. The story shares how one woman on her knees before the throne of God can be a means of deep lasting transformation in the lives of those she loves.

That woman is played by past True Woman speaker and friend of Revive Our Hearts Priscilla Shirer. Her character's life looks pretty good on the outside, but on the inside, not so much. Her marriage is hanging on by a thread when she meets an older woman who bluntly, but caringly, calls her on the carpet.

"Can I ask you, how much do you pray for your husband?"

"Uhh . . . well, very little."

This older, wiser woman goes on to teach Priscilla's character how powerful a weapon prayer can be in keeping her family intact. It's a weapon we need to utilize in our own families and for our churches, our communities, our country.

Nancy Leigh DeMoss describes the movie as a powerful new tool that puts a spotlight on the urgent need for us to pray. "I love War Room because it beautifully illustrates what is at the heart of a godly woman and what propels her into a fruitful lifestyle of thriving in Christ." (You can catch more comments from Nancy, plus an interview with Priscilla and Stephen Kendrick on today's Revive Our Hearts program.

Here's a sneak peek at War Room.

(See if you can spot another famous Christian speaker in the trailer!) As I watched, I was challenged in my own prayer life as Miss Clara proclaims:

You need to plead with God so that He can do what only He can do. Then you need to get out of the way and let Him do it! You need to do your fighting in prayer.

Are you ready to fight?
