Proud vs. Broken

Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth: The way we approach sin can help us see whether we’re a proud person or a broken person. Proud people try to cover up their sin.

Woman 1: Listen, what the stockholders don't know won't hurt them!

Nancy: Broken people are willing to be exposed because they have nothing to lose.

Woman 2: I blew it. Can we talk about it?

Nancy: Proud people have a hard time saying, “I was wrong; would you please forgive me?”

Man 1: Yeah, but she was wrong, too.

Nancy: Broken people are quick to admit their failure.

Woman 3: All I know is that I need to make some things right.

Nancy: Proud people are more concerned about the consequences of their sin.

Man 2: Oh, great! I’ll probably have to sleep on the couch tonight!

Nancy: But broken people are more concerned about how their sin has grieved God.

Woman 4: Psalm 51:4: ‘Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight.’

Nancy: There’s good news for every proud person. As soon as you are willing to humble yourself, God will pour His grace into your life.

With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth.
