Nancy Leigh DeMoss: The life of a seventeen-year-old girl was changed forever when she dove into a shallow lake and was paralyzed from the neck down. In the days following this accident, Joni Eareckson Tada asked God many questions.
Joni: I prayed a prayer to get closer to Him, and if this is God’s idea of an answer to prayer, let me tell you, He’s never going to trusted with another one of my prayers again.
Nancy: Joni’s line of questioning was similar to that of an Old Testament prophet. In the first chapter of Habakkuk we read, “How long shall I cry for help and you will not hear?” (v. 2).
The end of the book of Habakkuk shows that God doesn’t necessarily answer every question. But if you keep bringing Him your honest concerns, He will reveal Himself in a way you’ve never known. He’ll give you a broader perspective that will help you go on without knowing all the answers. Like Joni and like Habakkuk, don’t stop taking your tough questions to the Lord.
